According to Football Insider, Glenn Middleton is open to a move away from Rangers on loan this summer but wants to head to an English club if he does go.
The same outlet had reported that manager Steven Gerrard wants to send him out on loan and it does appear that the player is open to such a deal for the 2019/20 season.
However, he wants to move south of the border if he is to go at all and that might actually work out for the best.
Though we as a side play at a high level, not many clubs can offer him the sort of standard he needs to develop outside the top flight – compared to some of the clubs he could play for in England.
The likes of Greg Doherty and Jordan Rossiter enjoyed good loan spells in the EFL last season and Middleton could have the same impact on another club next season.
