On-loan Rangers midfielder Ovie Ejaria would recommend to his Liverpool teammate Dominic Solanke to make the switch to Ibrox in the January transfer window.

Outlets such as The Sun reported over the weekend that the Gers were on the brink of signing Solanke on loan for the second half of the season as a replacement for Roma flop Umar Sadiq.

Solanke, rated at £9m by Transfermarkt, has struggled to get game time under Jurgen Klopp this season after featuring heavily off the bench last term.

Ejaria reckons a move for the England U21 international could be a great move for all parties.

As quoted by The Daily Mail, he said:

Rangers are a very good club and I’ve enjoyed my time here so far and if I was to speak to Dom about it, I would only have good things to say about Rangers.

Dom is a very good player. I’ve known him for a very long time. He’s another goalscorer. He scores a lot of goals, so if he was to come to Rangers in January, it would be a very good addition to the squad.

It would also increase the strength in depth in the squad and he would be a very good addition. And don’t forget Kyle Lafferty, who is another top striker.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard knows that January could be an important month for Rangers and he’s looking to make signings that add serious quality to the first-team squad rather than signing back-up players.

Solanke would appear to fit that bill.

Whether the club can convince Liverpool he is best served with half a season in the Scottish Premiership remains to be seen. There could be other options available to the 21-year-old.

Hopefully teammates like Ejaria and Ryan Kent can convince him that Govan is the place to be.
