Rangers still haven’t played a Scottish Championship fixture in the 2015/16 season but we’ll soon do this, before we do though we’ve got to play another cup-tie with the next being a Scottish League Cup game on Sunday.

Warburton On Favourites Tag

Having seen off Hibernian in the Challenge Cup it’ll now be the aim of Rangers to avoid an upset against Peterhead in the League Cup on Sunday when they come to Ibrox.

Mark Warburton, in what will be his competitive debut as Gers manager at Ibrox, had reportedly got a near on full strength squad to select from but Cammy Bell (knee) looks like he’ll be missing again so summer signing from Swindon Wes Foderingham is likely to keep goal again.

Debuts were made by Foderingham, and six other signings in that six-two win over Hibs last Saturday with it expected most will now make their home debuts. Among them will be Danny Wilson, back for his second spell with the club after five-years away at the likes of Liverpool and Hearts.

Ahead of this tie Wilson told rangers.co.uk how much he wants the Gers to go on a cup run this season, even though promotion is of course the priority.

‘It’s important to go on cup runs.

‘When you are here, you are expected to win every game you go into. With that comes runs in the cup.

‘We want to win every game we go into. Our main focus is promotion but if we get cup runs along the way, that’s something we will deal with.’

Wilson was part of the side to beat Celtic after extra-time to win the League Cup back in 2011.

It’ll, with due respect, be expected that we’ll beat Peterhead but we shouldn’t take anything for granted and they’ll come to Ibrox looking to cause an upset with the League One side beating Brechin City three-nil in their own Challenge Cup tie last weekend.

What way will this one go?
