James Tavernier has sent the Rangers supporters a heartfelt message reflecting on the season past as well as looking forward to the next chapter.

What a season it has been, with soaring highs and deep lows, another incredible chapter in the story of his personal journey at Ibrox.

Tav took to his social media to dedicate the following message:

“This season has had its ups and downs with a lot of emotions. I couldn’t be more prouder of the players, the staff, the club and the fans who have gave us unbelievable support all year.”

“Memories along the way we’ll never forget.”

Moments

Those four images above speak volumes.

The profound loss of Walter Smith and Jimmy Bell hit all at the club hard, including those who were closest to them still at the club. We had an up and down campaign on the pitch, with a failed title retention bid and a disaster of a League Cup attempt, coming in the period Steven Gerrard departed to be replaced by Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Then there was the Europa League campaign. A glory run that almost achieved success and greatness but came just short. Agonising.

Three days later, the Scottish Cup victory at Hampden made up in a small way for the Seville sorrow, but it was the minimum required. That mission was accomplished in style and with great professionalism given the exertions of the previous days.

A constant all the way through the season was the captain, James Tavernier, an Ibrox icon. His contribution and input was huge and emphatic, that is what he does and the player he is.

Cant wait for next season…
