Club captain James Tavernier has sent a message to his departed manager Steven Gerrard.

The skipper has spoken publically from a personal perspective expressing his gratitude for what Gerrard and his coaching staff have done for him

“I’d like to thank the Gaffer, Gary McAllister, Michael Beale, Tom Culshaw, Jordan Milsom and Scott Mason for everything they have done for me personally, For my family, My team and our club.”

“We’ve achieved so much together. We as a team have grown, We demanded more from one and another, But most importantly we’ve developed into better players and better people. The club is in a better place, Of that I have no doubt.”

“The cherished moments will be forever special….Bringing Home 55 – Now we as a team will be fully focused on the next chapter that’s to come.”

Determination

James Tavernier now finds himself with even more responsibility as captain of Rangers.

During this international break, a massive change has been thrust upon the club with the manager’s exit, something that Tavernier knew nothing about – but he will know all about the response.

For now, the likes of Tavernier, Jermain Defoe, Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor have a big part to play. Until the point where a new manager is confirmed, there is increased onus on the senior pros to lead, to be strong and to set the right example.

We could head into the semi-final next week without an appointment having been made so it will be very interesting to see what happens over the next few days with Rangers briefing media sources that they want to have a new manager in place very soon but it will not be rushed.

In his own way, James Tavernier will continue to lead by example on the pitch with his standards and quality high.
