A former manager of Jake Hastie’s believes he is destined to sign for Rangers this summer, as reported by The Daily Record.

Last season Hastie was sent out on loan to Scottish League One side Airdrie and was managed by ex-boss Stephen Findlay, who was hugely impressed by the Motherwell youngster.

The 20-year-old has been linked with a move to Rangers at the end of the season with his current contract at Fir Park set to expire.

Findlay believes he has the talent to make a name for himself at Ibrox.

As quoted by The Daily Record, he said:

Jake was clearly a very special talent and we had a conversation about keeping him at Airdrie but he decided to go to play at a higher level. You could see the potential and the skill as well as a high workrate.

Even when he was with us we were told there were big teams chasing him so it doesn’t surprise me he is being linked with Rangers.

His time at Airdrie and Alloa has obviously helped him get real knowledge of the game. I’d encourage every kid to go to League One and League Two.

Go and get first-team games and don’t get stuck in the Under-20s. Jake did it and has had a remarkable rise and now has the potential to go and become a star at Rangers.

The young winger has emerged as one of the brightest talents in the Scottish Premierships over the last couple of months, scoring six goals for Motherwell after breaking into the first-team in January.

Prior to that this season he had featured for Alloa on loan.

Jordan Jones’ arrival at the club this summer means we won’t be short of wide options in the squad but Hastie is perhaps a talent we shouldn’t be missing out on and even if he has to head back out on loan, investing in his future could be wise.
