In a recent interview with the Times, Charlie Adam, among other things, said that he`d be open to a move to Rangers in the future – providing he was still good enough.

This certainly piqued my attention, too, as I feel he`d be the kind of player to get us back to where we want to be – right at the top of the league.

Of course, I can sense many of you reading this thinking that Charlie is no longer the player he was in midfield and he`d largely be surplus to requirements, but I reckon he`d be worth bringing in.

Certainly, we`d have to do it sooner rather than later with him not getting any younger but even if we signed him the summer after next, he`d still be able to job.

I don`t want to compare him to Barry Ferguson and so I`m not going to, but we do need another experienced head in midfield.

I like Niko Kranjcar but I think he does have a tendency to go missing in the big games on occasion, and that`s not good enough when we`re aiming for a league title.

Graeme is building a good young team that should only get better, but we cannot just ignore experience for the sake of cramming in bright sparks and, in all honesty, for them to fully develop they need some older heads.

Adam is a player who has seen it and done it at the highest level and he`d certainly not shirk any important clashes, even if he`s not at the level he once was.

He`s even said he`d only join if he was good enough, too, and, with that in mind, it`s clear that he`s already got our best intentions at heart, even though we`re not even close to signing him.

I`d certainly welcome Adam at Ibrox, then, but would you?
