Manager Ally McCoist has praised the impact of the two substitutes in the game against Falkirk on Friday evening.

The gaffer was looking for a response following the loss to Hearts in our last match and whilst it was still a free flowing Rangers showing, it was far improved and the result came out the right way for us.

Speaking to the Official Site following the two nil victory thanks to goals from Lewis Macleod and Nicky Clark, McCoist said the subs had the perfect impact because we were struggling to break them down until that point.

‘There wasn’t an awful lot in the match and I felt our goalkeeper made two fantastic saves when it was nil nil. When that happens, you just hope you can get a wee break and we definitely got that with the opening goal. Lewis had a shot which took a deflection and flew in the corner and Nicky, who was terrific along with Airdy when they came on, got a deserved and well taken second. Both substitutes brought us a tremendous level of energy and positivity.’

The gaffer goes on to say that it is a cliche that goals change games, but he felt our performance following the opener really stepped up and improved and he’ll be looking for us to start the next game in that manner.

For Clark’s goal he effectively nicked it off Nicky Law, and when he speaking to the press after the game he joked he wouldn’t be apologising for doing that and he looks forward to the next time it happens.

‘I’m not really caring what Nicky has to say about it. I’m a striker and it was coming at me two yards out. I did the same thing to Jon Daly last year and I said it would happen again. I’m delighted. Any striker in the world would have done the same, in fact, any player would have done it to be honest and there won’t be any apology going to Nicky.’
