Rangers linked forward, Lyndon Dykes of Livingston, has been dropping teasers on social media about where is next destination might be, as reported in The Daily Record.

With one post showing the target-man dying his hair blue and another featuring a picture of him playing at Ibrox, Gers fans have put two and two together and decided that he is on his way to sign for Steven Gerrard.

Who will provide Rangers strips for the 2020/21 season?

The West Lothian club are said to be looking for around £2million for the striker who managed 12 goals and 10 assists last season before play was halted, he was also responsible for bullying Celtic’s backline on more than one occasion.

Although he would probably be bought as a back-up, former Rangers goal machine, Kris Boyd, doesn’t think he has the ability to replace Alfredo Morelos should he be relied upon to lead the line instead of the Colombian:

“If Morelos stays, I understand Rangers being linked with strikers such as Lyle Taylor of Charlton and Livingston’s Lyndon Dykes.

“They have both caught the eye in recent times, and I’m sure they would be good additions. They have different qualities and both know the way to goal.

“But I wonder if either is good enough to be lined up as a direct replacement for Morelos, with an expectation of scoring in excess of 20 goals a season.

“And it would be unfair to pile too much pressure on either of their shoulders.”

Dykes has a similar physicality to Morelos, however, despite being the same age, he doesn’t have the same experience in European competition and has yet to represent either Australia or Scotland at international level, with both countries chasing him.

Steven Gerrard will be looking for reinforcements to his forward line rather than weakening it and Dykes would offer a different option to what he already has at his disposal, whether or not he would be enough to see his side lift the title at the end of the season remains to be seen.
