Eight goals over the last two games.

Rangers followed up the dramatic rollercoaster ride that was the Europa League victory over Royal Antwerp with yesterday’s show of strength against Dundee United.

The clinical nature of goals will have pleased manager Steven Gerrard, who wanted more and felt that his side could have managed the game better in the closing stages.

As well as the penalty miss from Borna Barisic, the Gers had other opportunities to add to their four goal tally but it was not to be.

In attendance at the post-match press conference, Vital Rangers asked Gerrard about his men hitting the goal trail after four consecutive games with only one goal registered and if he felt there was anything in particular behind the recent upturn:

Gerrard responded, “I think just having quality players who are stepping up and obviously creating chances and executing them.”

“We went through a bit of a phase where we were winning games 1-0 and that’s ok as well – teams aren’t just going to roll over and allow us to take shots at their goal.”

“We’re at the business end of the season where we need results so for me its about wins and getting three points on the board.”

“But, today we showed that we’ve got quality and people today were taking shots on and we’ve been encouraging that as a staff to shoot more.”

“You see today, we get a deflection, we take a shot on and Ianis (Hagi) manages to nip in, Buff (Morelos) chases one down so sometimes you make your own luck.”

“The only way to score is to back yourself, over the last couple of games you have saw some fantastic goals and now I’m sure Joe Aribo will be pushing himself forward for goal of the season,” concluded the Ibrox boss with a smile.
