Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has revealed there were no offers made for former club captain Lee Wallace during the January transfer window.

Wallace’s contract runs out at the end of the season meaning he would be a real bargain signing for clubs in the Scottish Premiership or in the lower leagues down south.

However, nobody has come forward to try and sign him, at least that Gerrard knows about anyway.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the Gers boss said of Wallace’s situation: “I don’t know whether he had the opportunity to go out or not, you’d have to ask him. But no one came on the phone for his services.”

The 31-year-old may have struggled with injuries over the last couple of seasons but did make an appearance for Gerrard’s side in December during a 2-1 victory over St Johnstone.

As far as I’m concerned he is still a quality back-up option for Rangers, never mind anyone else and I would happily see him get a chance in the team over someone such as Jon Flanagan.

It seems clubs are uninterested in his services though, or maybe just feel like they can pick him up on a lower wage come the end of the season when he is out of contract.
