The Old Firm derby is the biggest game in Scotland, and our clash with Celtic on Saturday is a huge one. We can’t afford to drop points against them if we want to continue to challenge for the Premier League title, and so nothing but a win will be expected.

That will require a strong performance from the players, of course, but it also means that the fans need to do their bit. Steven Gerrard has been discussing the role that the fans will play, and he’s expecting big things.

He said: ‘No doubt about it the atmosphere will be electric tomorrow, we need our fans to give us that boost and push us on but we also understand it is our responsibility to get them off their seats’.

As Gerrard notes, this works both ways, but one thing is for certain for supporters, it doesn’t come bigger than this game. Especially given our loss to Celtic in the cup earlier this season, we’ll be out for revenge, whilst a win will also put us back in contention at the top of the table.

In truth, this is the biggest game between the two clubs in a while, and Steven Gerrard will want everyone at their best – including the fans.

Opinion: It’s time for this Rangers man to finally take some responsbility
