Rangers are definitely on the look out for a new striker and it doesn’t matter how old you are, nothing – other than maybe winning trophies – is more exciting than the prospect of the next fans’ favourite potentially being signed.
The three names mentioned so far are Erik Botheim, Mateo Cassierra and Cameron Archer, a wide mix of a Bosman, a multi-million pound signing and a hotly tipped youngster, but a new name has joined the list.
Genk striker Stephen Odey who has just completed a season on loan at Randers where he will soon complete a permanent deal, has been exclusively revealed by allnigeriasoccer.com as a target for, not only us, but also Old Firm rivals Celtic, however, it would appear as if we are leading the chase, if reports are to be believed:
“Scottish Premiership giants Celtic and Rangers are mulling over a move for Nigeria international Stephen Odey in the summer transfer window, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.
“The former Mountain of Fire star has put himself in the shop window on the back of his form for Randers last season, with a goal involvement of fifteen – 13 goals, 2 assists – in 32 all-competition appearances.
“Celtic have approached Randers about the possibility of signing Odey and asked about their price tag for the 24-year-old, but the Hoops have not yet submitted a bid as of now.
“The interest from Rangers is believed to be more concrete as it is confirmed that preliminary talks have been held with
Sporting Director Ross Wilson.”
A fee in the region of £3.75million is said to be enough to secure his services from the Danish outfit even though they are only paying around £600,000 for his services with the site also claiming that he is being lined up as a possible replacement for Alfredo Morelos, however, at that price, I’d wager that he is being targeted to supplement the forward line we already have.
As with some of the rumours we have already seen, if there is nothing in it then it will be quickly dismissed by one of the usual in the know sources, and if it isn’t, it could well be one to keep an eye on.
