After the Hampden horror which was last week’s League Cup semi-final loss to Hibs, Rangers have responded very well under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The Dutchman was in attendance for that game but only with a watching brief and did not meet the players until two days later.

That makes the intial reaction from the squad all the more impressive given just two days prep for the Sparta Prague game, followed by just another two training sessions prior to the first Premiership win for the Dutchman against Livingston on Sunday.

As stated above by Andrew Dickson, the fast start and two excellent goals went against the grain for the season to date.

Combined with Alfredo Morelos opener against the Czechs at Ibrox, all three goals came within the opening 16 minutes – Rangers previously managed three goals in the same period over the last 18 games in total.

It was clear to see that the Scottish champions had been sluggish this term, with the obvious unwanted run of conceding the opening goal in games providing another feature – that is another change that has came with the new regime.

A fast start is pleasing to see and the Gers have been lively in the opening stages of both of Gio’s games so far, particularly in West Lothian. A tweak to the set-up and tactics deployed is reaping rewards already and it can be from this reboot and freshness that Rangers season is revitalised at exactly the right time – now.
