Rangers Word On The Tweet

“Star of the future”, “real deal”, “goal machine”, Gers starlet lauded by fans as academy progresses

Rangers Academy made it through to the UEFA Youth Champions League play-off round after securing a 2-1 victory away to Slovan Bratislava as reported in The Scottish Sun.

Ironically, they could now face an easier tie as the Champions League path is filled with teams that have qualified through their respective senior teams’ performance rather than the domestic path which is filled with winners of youth leagues from around the continent.

The UEFA Youth League is easily the most complicated tournament to follow in European football and that takes some doing with the Nations League now in full flow.

Rangers star on the night was again Nathan Young-Coombes who signed from Chelsea earlier this year and the 16-year-old has previously spoken about making the decision to move north, the youngster is hard to miss with his “Sideshow Bob” hairstyle but has backed it up with a series of excellent displays for the colt and academy sides.

Should Nathan Young-Coombes be promoted to the first-team squad?

Yes

No

With two goals on the night (and three in the tie overall) Young-Coombes again proved to be the match winner, Rangers fans took to Twitter to give their verdict on the young striker.

At only 16, Young-Coombes has plenty of time on his side but his knack of scoring goals in big games for the youth teams is sure to be attracting the attention of Steven Gerrard, Kai Kennedy was recently the “19th man” against Hamilton and if NYC continues his recent form, he could well be next.
