Spot the difference – calamity Collum strikes again

When is a yellow card not a yellow card?

When Willie Collum is the referee and the player committing the foul is a Rangers player.

I know it’s not the best joke of all time but it’s still better than the laughable performance of the perennial attention seeker that is Willie Collum, a game that was physical without being dirty descended into farce and attack v defence as he sought to make his usual impact on a game.

Now, I’m not one for conspiracies, Collum is just an horrific referee and, after maybe having second thoughts about the penalty he awarded shortly before half-time, decided that he needed to even things up and, rather than looking at the actual incident in isolation, decided to go by what would be the popular decision for the home support and those that might throw a brick through his windows should he be seen to be favouring us.

What makes things worse when you look at John Lundstram’s tackle on Martin Boyle is that there was an almost identical – if not worse – one, ironically, on Lundstram, in the first-half, and yet, only a yellow was brandished. See for yourself and make your own mind up.

All we want is consistency, no favours, nothing more and nothing less.

Collum won’t be a top flight referee for much longer and fans of every club in Scotland will breathe a sigh of relief – don’t celebrate too much though because you can guarantee he’ll be the ref running the VAR suite, perish the thought.
