Much of the fixture list was victim of the big freeze in Scotland today but there were no casualties in the SPL, the undersoil heating obviously doing it’s job well.

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood wanted their game with Celtic cancelled due to poor conditions on the roads and safety concerns for their fans but he didn’t get his way and the game went ahead.

Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield looked like he wouldn’t be beaten as he shut Celtic out for the first half but he was eventually and it was Stillian Petrov who made the breakthrough in the 66th minute.

Once that goal went in Celtic were in full control and they finished Aberdeen off with another couple from Shaun Maloney (75) and Maciej Zurawski (89).

This victory moves Celtic 16 points clear of their nearest rivals Hearts who play Livingston tomorrow.

Motherwell made the long trip north to Inverness and despite fears that the game might not go ahead it did. Motherwell will be glad as they got a vital victory thanks to a single goal from Richie Foran which moved them within three points of a top six place.

Hibernian had an easy game against Dundee Utd at Easter Road and were three goals up within the first 33 minutes.

Goals came from Riordan (6), Archibald og (25), Killen (33).

Dundee Utd did get a goal back in the dying minutes from Goodwillie who incidently became the SPL’s youngest ever scorer at the age of 16. He’s barely out of nappys!

In the day’s other game, Kilmarnock hosted Dunfermline and beat them by 1 goal to 0.

It was an early goal from Danny Invincibile in the 9th minute.

Hearts make the short trip to Livingston tomorrow.
