Not that it was required, but even more evidence has been provided on just how big tonight’s game between Rangers and PSV Eindhoven really is.

The two clubs and their respective fan bases are primed for a shot at the big time with everything that the Champions League entails, with the branding, the anthem, the arm patches and the ball logo on the pitch all included at the Playoff round stage as has been the case in recent years.

In the UK, the coverage will be provided by BT Sports given that they are the current rights holders across the CL, Europa League and Europa Conference League.

However, the media interest goes way beyond the reach of our own nation and the Netherlands as was revealed yesterday at the pre-match press conference. Representatives from across Europe and elsewhere were present to hear what Giovanni van Bronckhorst had to say.

With just hours to go until the first leg gets underway, you can’t help but get the feeling that we are in for two epic battles between the sides.

Both Rangers and PSV go into tonight’s game on the back of a decent start to the season domestically and encouraged by different preparations in the third qualifying round.

As we are well aware, the Gers overcame the hurdle of a two goal deficit against Union Saint-Gilloise to set up the meeting with the current Dutch Cup holders who saw off Monaco last time out. A thrilling second-leg was decided at the Phillips Stadium with the hosts coming from behind to go on and secure the victory in extra time, 4-3 on aggregate. They were second best to Monaco in some aspects but crucially found the goals that mattered.

With the riches and prestige of the Champions League on the line, this is certainly a big game and another potential modern Ibrox classic in the making.
