Soon to be out-of-contract star wants to sign on at Rangers this summer

|

On loan midfielder Steven Davis feels he can play a big role in the Rangers team next term, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

Davis joined on a six month loan in January but with his contract at Southampton set to expire at the end of the season he’d be free to arrive at Ibrox on a free transfer this summer.

Although his loan move hasn’t quite been as blockbuster as predicted by many when he signed, recent performances have shown he could have a big part to play in the quest for trophies next season.

He’s eager too.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the experience Northern Ireland international said:

I feel like I have a big part to play and can be a part of this team moving forward, we need to try and take it to another level next season.

I had to take a step back due to the lack of games, it has been great to be involved again and get the intensity back. I’ve enjoyed being in the games the last few weeks in that role.

It certainly sounds as if he is on the brink of signing considering his comments on next season, so although a deal hasn’t been officially announced, has he already agreed something with the club?

His experience and winning pedigree will make him a crucial part of the dressing room if he does sign on, with Steven Gerrard clearly putting faith in veterans like Allan McGregor, Jermain Defoe and Davis himself.

I’d love to see him sign up on a year’s contract, which would both see him stick around and keep him motivate to win another deal in 2020.
