Plenty of Rangers fans are happy with the news that Greg Docherty will be sent out on loan this summer, after finding his first-team opportunities limited in Steven Gerrard’s new look squad.
Ten signings have arrived at Ibrox since the Liverpool legend was announced as the new boss, leaving players already at the club having to reach new levels to be included in his plans.
One of the players failing to do that right now is Docherty, with outlets like The Evening Times reporting that he will be free to leave the club on a temporary basis during this transfer window.
The 21-year-old only arrived from Hamilton in January but is clearly not making the grade in the middle of the park for Gerrard.
That may seem surprising to some who were impressed with his potential in the second half of last season, but many believe it is the best thing for his development and the best thing for Rangers over the next 12 months.
These fans recently took to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all…
No surprise Rangers want to put Docherty out on loan. There's a Rangers player in there, but we've too many midfielders. Also interesting to see what happens with Halliday.

Agreed, some serious hysteria out there. AH may or nay not stay, but if he does he is a squad player only. Docherty needs to play games and develop. He struggled badly to settle last term.

By the way
I like Docherty but he’s done nothing at Rangers so far…I hope he progresses and comes back stronger.

Spot on. We’re so “much of a muchness” in midfield and Docherty clearly hasn’t done enough to nail down a spot. A loan could work wonders for him, meanwhile maybe we’ll bring in someone with the necessary experience(Davis please!).

Let's not get things mixed up here, there is no doubt in my mind halliday is surplus to requirements at rangers and will be moved on. Docherty is a talent and been moved out to gain more experience, because halliday is still here doesn't make him a better player.

Good loan for him. Big club, big crowd and competitive football.

Absolutely, Could be the making of him.

Will Steven Gerrard have him in his long term plans? Most likely
Will a loan move away get him first team experience and game time? Absolutely
Has Greg Docherty got a future at Rangers? Definitely
So stop questioning the manager and complaining about it.
