With Rangers fans still waiting on an announcement of the full extent of Jamie Murphy’s potential injury issue following the weekend’s game with Kilmarnock in the Scottish League Cup, some fans already think there is a ready made replacement available if we were to make a cheeky bid for him.
The man in question has been linked with Rangers previously and was on show for our opposition this weekend – Jordan Jones.
The 23-year-old winger made the move to Kilmarnock as a free agent following his release by Middlesbrough back in the summer of 2016 and he boasts seven goals for the side in 90 appearances.
The player put in the cross that led to Borna Barisic’s own goal at the weekend and the Northern Ireland international put in a fine performance against James Tavernier, causing plenty of problems in our otherwise relatively comfortable win.
With reports of a £350,000 offer back in the January window it’s been suggested we could rekindle our interest in him before the summer deadline rolls around, and with Murphy factored into the equation now, a number of fans think it would be a no brainer.
Thought Jordan Jones was excellent again today. If Murphy is out long term, as it sounds he may be, we should go back in for JJ. Would imagine Killie will want a seven figure sum for him, though. #Rangers

I like him. I'd go as high as 500k with a year left on his deal

I think Murphy's going to be out for a while and we should bring in Jordan Jones as a replacement he's a good player the gaffer would make him better just need to get lafferty over the line and get another cb and we're sorted

I think Jordan Jones would be a good shout for us if Murphy is as expected out long term. Always seems to give Tav problems but actually today Tav done well.

Rangers need to sign Jordan Jones. He spins past defenders. Would be a great addition at Ibrox, more so since Jamie unfortunately could be sidelined for a while. Plays on the same wing. Seen him at hospitality at Ibrox recently. Boy wants to be there. He would slot in perfectly

Whether Steven Gerrard now puts his faith in his Liverpool loanee or does look for another signing will be interesting as plenty are hoping Ryan Kent will prove he’s ready to step up in Murphy’s absence.
