Hearts’ Robert Snodgrass has insisted that there is no chance of Liverpool getting complacent against Rangers on Tuesday night.

The former Premier League player is well placed to cast his eye on the upcoming Champions League encounter given his recent experience in England, prior to his recent return home to Scotland where he is now a Hearts player – the 35-year old played the full second half in Saturday’s 0-4 success for the Gers.

Obviously, Jurgen Klopp’s men will be strong favourites for the game with the quality at their disposal as well as the overall gulf in quality between the squads. Despite that, Gio van Bronckhorst and his team will take heart from the Reds recent slump which includes a soft underbelly at the heart of their defence just now.

After losing three goals to Brighton on Saturday, could they take their eye off the ball again in thinking that it’s ‘only’ Rangers? No way says Snodgrass who also contrasted the demands of the respective leagues:

“Anybody who has come up here has found it very difficult, because it’s a very fit league. Down south, the big thing is the size of the players. Some of them are huge. And a lot of Scottish lads going down there say that it takes a few months to adjust to the size.”

“But everyone in English football loves the Old Firm, they respect the Scottish game – and recognise that it’s getting better and better. There is no chance of Liverpool taking Rangers lightly. No chance.”

Difficult

In the full piece, Snodgrass outlined the high level that Liverpool play at, which combines with the Anfield crowd on a European night to make it a very tough place to go and get anything from the game.

In that regard, there is no surprise for Rangers. This will be the toughest Champions League game so far and that is after two comprehensive defeats at the hands of Ajax and Napoli. The underdog tag will be fine for the Gers, who will be backed by a raucous away crowd. In terms of atmosphere, there will be nothing to fear – it is all about what happens on the pitch where the danger lies.
