There is always a “big” transfer story every window for Rangers fans, in the summer it was Joey Veerman and this January it is definitely Andreas Skov Olsen.

Depending on what report you read, Bologna are looking for a figure around the £5million mark for their Danish international who has found life in Serie A frustrating after being move from his natural position of the right wing or as part of a front three to right wing-back.

We have been linked with Olsen before and the rumours have come from Italy rather than these shores with Forza Italian Football’s Serie A expert, Connor Clancy, telling GiveMeSport that it could be a good move for all parties:

“The feeling about Bologna with Mihajlovic is that they aren’t allowed to play the way the players want and need to play so he’s being restricted by quite a pragmatic coach.

“But I do think there’s a lot of talent in him and if he were to go somewhere like Rangers, who knows, that would allow him to be a little more expressive, I think he would be a fantastic signing.”

Olsen is only 22-years old, so the days of being a goal-scoring winger aren’t exactly long gone, the fact that he has still been able to produce the goods at international level – six goals and five assists in 15 games – shows that he hasn’t lost his shooting boots.

From which country does Dundee United keeper Benjamin Siegrist come from?

Clancy is right, the prospect of acquiring a player of Olsen’s talent either on loan or a permanent deal is an exciting one. Some fans may have baulked at the transfer fee but a player of his calibre is more than capable of paying it back on the pitch and of making a tidy profit in the future too, sometimes you’ve got to speculate to accumulate.
