Side tipped to beat Rangers in transfer battle

Speaking to Football Insider, Noel Whelan has suggested that Leeds United could prove the more attractive option to Rangers this summer and that could sway him to join them over us.

The Gers have been excellent this transfer window in terms of signing players and I have been very impressed with who we have managed to get in.

However, it is clear that signing Ryan Kent would make the window even better, though Whelan has suggested that Leeds could be the more attractive opposition – here we go with the English football snobbery.

Here’s what he had to say:

“At both Leeds and Rangers, he would be a standout player. He has had a year at Rangers and developed well, but the Championship is a bigger challenge than the SPL.

“Leeds are a very attractive proposition to Kent. He would be playing with top players like Helder Costa and in front of huge, passionate crowds where every match matters. Leeds are a special club and capable of attracting special players.”

Of course, Leeds are a big club with a great crowd but Kent knows what Ibrox is like when it’s bouncing and I’d argue it trumps what is essentially still a second-tier team.

It remains to be seen if he even moves, though, with him on tour with Liverpool on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.
