Steven Gerrard has been able to impress as the manager of Rangers this season, but his debut campaign as a manager hasn’t been without problems. Indeed, there have been more than a few issues for him as he has looked to build a strong team at Ibrox.
Perhaps the most prominent issue has come in the Rangers defence. The Gers have really struggled for consistency at the back this season, with brilliant performances often contrasted with shocking displays within a matter of weeks.
That’s been a huge issue for us as we’ve looked to mount a steady title challenge, and it’s obvious that we’ll need to improve in that regard moving forward.
Fortunately, we have managed to find a little bit of stability lately, and that’s coincided with a return to the fold for Nikola Katic. Katic started the season as a regular, but he quickly fell out of favour under Steven Gerrard.
That’s begun to change somewhat lately, and Gerrard’s recently discussed the reason why. As per the official Rangers Twitter, Gerrard said: “He [Katic] grabbed his chance with both hands”.
SG: I thought Nikola was very commanding and really has pushed me into playing him. He grabbed his chance with both hands.

Clearly, then, the manager has been impressed, and so have the fans, it seems. In response to Gerrard’s message, lots of Rangers fans are clearly hoping that the manager persists with the defender.
About time he realised this.
