The Gers are back in European action later this week as we travel to Spartak Moscow in the Europa League.

Top of a tight group, this is a big matchweek for us as we look to get into the knockout stages for the second half of the season.

We’ve still got some big games to come, too, so a positive┬áresult is needed here and it will be interesting to see how Steven Gerrard sets us up.

Quite often for games like this away from home he has sought to make us tough to beat and then go from there so that could well influence his team selection.

With that in mind, then, I’m wondering whether he’ll be tempted to bring in someone like Lassana Coulibaly as an extra force in midfield.

He hasn’t played much and didn’t feature against St. Mirren but he is in contention – might Stevie take such a decision?

What do you think? Let me know in the poll!

One Reply to “Should Gerrard make this bold call v Spartak?”

  • I don’t think Rossiter will start but he could come on if we are in a good position or looking to hold for the win/ draw with 15 mins left.

Gerrard is being very careful with Rossiter and I don’t think we will see him play much up until after the January shut down to give him time to get up to speed now that he is fit.

I expect to see him pushing for a regular start from February onwards and if we can get 15 – 20 appearances into him this season then that is good for him.
