Paul Gascoigne’s nomination for the Scottish Football Hall of Fame has been withdrawn after reports that board members at the SFA would boycott the upcoming induction event.

The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that some board members of the SFA felt they couldn’t endorse the player’s entrance into the hall of fame, despite having no direct control over his inclusion.

A later statement from the Hall of Fame claimed the withdrawal was due to concerns over his mental health, but the whole sordid affair is pretty see-through.

Gascoigne joined Rangers in 1995 and made over 100 appearances for the club in three years, helping the club to the famous nine-in-a-row triumph.

He won four trophies with Walter Smith’s side and scoring dozens of goals, thrilling supporters with world class performances.

Rangers fans have been left fuming by the whole saga and took to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all yesterday…
