There has still been no confirmed outcome on Rangers appeal against the Scottish FA ban issued to five of its players.

Given that the hearing commenced yesterday, it is incredible that we are seemingly no further forward, just a matter of hours before Rangers take to the pitch against St Johnstone in Perth.

An update was expected by this afternoon, following on from the intial ruling and a sanction of a six game ban (two suspended) against the players – Nathan Patterson, Bongani Zungu, Calvin Bassey, Brian Kinnear and Dapo Mebude – found to have breach Covid regulations, after they were reprimanded internally at Ibrox.

As reported by the Glasgow Times, the clarity, transparency and efficiency from the SFA has been questioned – leaving the players available for selction in the process:

“Nathan Patterson could be available this evening for Rangers’ clash with St Johnstone as the club continue to await the result of their appeal against his ban.”

“The defender faces a six match suspension, two suspended, following his Covid protocol breach alongside four of his Ibrox teammates.”

“Rangers appealed the ban and the SFA have not yet issued their decision.”

“That allowed Patterson to play, and star, against Celtic in his side’s 2-0 win in the Scottish Cup last weekend. And it looks unlikely the situation will be resolved before Gers visit McDiarmid Park this evening, meaning Patterson could be involved once again.”

“The SFA have been accused of taking too long to issue their response to the appeal.”

“Celtic recently issued a statement demanding ‘transparency and consistency’ after it took two months for the governing body to come to their conclusion.”

The wait goes on, despite only three Premiership games remaining after tonight’s full fixture card.
