Serbian police have asked for all Rangers supporters to be off the streets of Belgrade by 11pm.

An update was shared by Rangers in the last hour, but it seems a bit late for the authorities to be giving out such advice at this late stage when the visiting fans will already be in the city in different groups and locations.

As already stated, Belgrade is not a welcoming city for visiting football supporters, whether the opposition is Red Star or Partizan. Beyond expected passions and rivalry, it could be said with justification that some Serb elements go above and beyond in their hostility toward opponents.

As well as forwarding the night-time instruction from the police, Rangers have advised that further coaches will be able to take independent fans to the stadium, as well as those already due to be collected, from Student Square at 4pm local time on Thursday.

In what is certainly a unique football encironment, the Rangers supporters will also be kept in for up to two hours after the end of the game but hopefully this will be a happy time to celebrate progression, as was the case on the last visit in 2007 when Champions League group stage participation was secured.
