Sky Sports are reporting that Rangers are lining up a surprise move for Aberdeen’s soon to be out of contract forward Scott Wright, according to Anthony Joseph, with The Daily Record claiming that Aberdeen are open to a January move possibly involving Greg Stewart.

The 23-year old is from the north east and has been at Aberdeen since he was a youngster but is now rumoured to be looking to move away after rejecting the offer of a new contract to extend his stay.

With two goals and five assists under Derek McInnes the Scotland Under-21 cap has shown that he can be creative influence in a team that suits his style of play, however, after watching our fixture at the weekend, it’s pretty clear that where he is will only hold back his development.

Scott Wright for Greg Stewart?

Yes, please

No, thanks

No, thanks

We saw a glimpse of what he is capable of on Sunday – on the rare occasions that they did venture forward – he is quick with the ball at his feet and is able to play on either flank, in a second striker role and loves to drive at opposition players.

The biggest concern would be that he has only just recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered at the start of the 2019 season followed by surgery for a hernia this term, there is no doubting his talent but this doesn’t look good on his record – the fact that he is available without a transfer fee does negate this though and he is certainly worth the gamble, especially if Stewart is going in the opposite direction.
