Rangers striker Fran Sandaza could be set to return to first team action earlier than expected after turning out for the reserves today. The Spanish striker had been expected to be out until early next year but has made good progress in his recovery and had a successful comeback in a reserve match against Livingston.

The Spaniard scored in the reserve match against Livingston today at Murray Park which Rangers won 3-1. He scored the second goal of the game after just three minutes. Kai Naismith scored the reserves other two goals.

Sandaza had been out injured since the league cup victory over Motherwell at Ibrox in September. He lasted seventy minutes in this game before being replaced by Callum Gallagher.

The team that faced Livi was: Gallacher (Currie 45); Cole, Urquhart, Gasparotto, Clarke; Burrows, Crawford, Hutton, Stella (Walsh 80); Naismith, Sandaza (Gallagher 70).
