Earlier this afternoon Rangers confirmed that we had stolen yet another impressive FK Osijek talent in the shape of Albanian international winger Eros Grezda.

Having faced them in the qualifying rounds of the Europa League over the summer we had already taken Borna Barisic from them to much delight, and Barisic will obviously help his former colleague settle into life at the club following his signing.

The 23-year-old winger heads in as our 14th signing of the summer under manager Steven Gerrard and he’s certainly highly rated by Albanian manager Christian Panucci (former AC Milan and Real Madrid defender” who the Official Site quote as saying about the player.

“…fast, direct and a player who makes things happen on the pitch.”

He was injured when we faced Osijek to be fair, so it seems he was on Gerrard’s radar ahead of the game.

“He is an excellent player and the fans will love him because he can contribute in the final third. He’s really quick, very direct and he comes in with international experience. According to Borna and Nikola Katic he was by a mile Osijek’s best player last season. He is a very dangerous player and while you never want to see anyone injured, we are thankful he wasn’t available to play against us. All going well, hopefully he’ll be a big player for us moving forward.”

As the above reactions on social media show from fans as they responded to the news, the signing has certainly excited people even if the humour abounded.
