Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos continues to split the fan base and that hasn’t changed following his international debut for Colombian as a substitute this weekend.
Having started the 2018/19 campaign strongly, the 22-year-old forward has contributed six goals in 14 appearances overall for manager Steven Gerrard, but he has marked his card with two red cards already.
With fans already split on his ability to lead a line given the chances he does fluff during matches, he missed an absolute sitter to get him off the mark for his country at the first time of asking against Venezuela. He did, however, play his part in helping them to a 2-1 victory on the day as he grabbed an assist.

Did he then get sent off?

Very worrying that he misses so many sitters.
International level is probably a step too far for Morelos atm, no way can you continually miss sitters and be a Colombian international striker— ⚫️⚫️ BarišićLOYAL (@weepaljoe_) September 8, 2018
What a load of nonsense. Go and have a look on YouTube at Edson Cavani’s misses at club level and International level, do you think he’s not ready for those levels?

Seen highlights of Morelos debut there, read about it earlier but seen it there for any young striker to assist his team's winning goal in the last minute after missing a sitter says exactly what a talent we have….. Well paled alfredo

Well done and massive congratulations to Alfredo Morelos. I’m reading his debut for Columbia included a couple of misses and not-so-great moments, but the lad just played for his country, a talented footballing country, for the first time. Superb achievement. ????????????????

When he scores 30 goals this season he won’t need defended

I haven’t seen it but Morelos missing an aparant clear cut chance for his country. You know what, I would be worried if he wasn’t getting in those positions but he is. He will learn & the goals will follow. A bit more composure and we will have a top striker on our hands.????⚪️???? pic.twitter.com/rjBvFcAMYD

The fact he is 22 playing for us and getting a call up for the 14th best footballing country is brilliant

His miss from five yards certainly made the headlines on social media but as the above reactions show, if you’re in the pro-Morelos camp you looked to other things, if you’re not, it simply backs up an already held opinion.
