Rangers have pulled out of a move for Motherwell winger Jake Hastie, according to The Evening Times.

The paper reckon that a move had actually been agreed last month with the 20-year-old, but the finer details have obviously delayed the pre-contract signing and Rangers are now said to be frustrated with it all.

The youngster could now make a shock move to Major League Soccer and join Atlanta United.

The recruitment team at Ibrox are believed to have moved on to other transfer targets this summer, with Ryan Kent and Greg Stewart both being considered, according to the report.

Hastie certainly appears to be an exciting talent having burst into the Motherwell first-team in January, scoring six goals in the matches in all competitions since.

Rangers though are blessed with plenty of options on the wings and with the pre-contract signing of Jordan Jones we have another international arriving this summer to compete for places.

If Hastie isn’t going to given the football he needs to develop further, would there be any point in bringing him to the club?

Have Rangers made a mistake not signing the attacker? Have your say below…

  • no need for yet another winger, better looking at a new strike partner for Lafferty and Defoe since Morelos will now be sold for his petulent attitude. Also, a new central defender for Worrall since he is going back to Notts Forest at the end of this season.

  • Yes I think it’s a mistake, there’s no guarantee that Ryan Kent will be here next year and Daniel Candeis is getting on a bit, as for Gredza he hasn’t done much either and Middleton still learning . Yes we’ve got Jordan Jones coming in but I would still go for Hastie he’s proved he can play in the Premiership, plus we’d get him for peanuts
