Rangers made an impressive start to the week when it was confirmed that Kemar Roofe has signed for an undisclosed fee from Belgian side, Anderlecht, as reported on the club’s official website.

Roofe has been a target of Steven Gerrard from as far back as last season when the Ibrox club were originally linked with the forward, however, he instead made a £7million move from Leeds United to the Juliper Pro League.

Understandably so, the Gers gaffer is delighted to get his man and has backed him to be a success in the famous Light Blue shirt:

“Kemar is recognised throughout Europe as an intelligent attacker with an eye for goal. I look forward to working with him and recognise his potential to further progress our starting XI.

“He has experienced the pressure and expectation at Leeds United and has played on the continent which will stand him in good stead for his time at Ibrox.”

It won’t have gone unnoticed that the transfer fee was reported as “undisclosed” especially when the amount that Anderlecht paid for his services last season is considered, with the addition of Cedric Itten from St Gallen, Rangers will have paid a sizeable amount to strengthen their forward line and the squad for the weekend’s fixture against St Mirren will instantly have a greater goal threat to it.

Will Roofe fire Rangers to glory?

Yes

No

No

There is increasing speculation over the future of Alfredo Morelos and this is sure to be ramped up with two strikers arriving at the club, nirvana for fans of the Ibrox club would be for the Colombian international to stay, however, a bidding war certainly wouldn’t be the worst thing that could happen – safe in the knowledge that Gerrard and Ross Wilson have secured the goals needed to fill the void that would potentially be left behind the Europa League’s top goalscorer.
