Craig Levein launched an incredible attack on referee Bobby Madden and his officiating team after Rangers’ 2-1 victory at Tynecastle on Sunday.

Goals from Connor Goldson and Alfredo Morelos launched Steven Gerrard’s side to the top of the Scottish Premiership table, with Hearts failing to find an equalising breakthrough even after the Gers went down to ten men.

Levein clearly couldn’t handle it, claiming that it was like playing against twelve men with Madden in charge of the game.

As quoted by BBC Scotland, the Hearts boss said:

I’ve lost my voice from shouting at the referee. It was a terrible performance – it really was. How Morelos gets away with what he gets away with, I just don’t understand.

It was like, as Neil Lennon said after going to Celtic Park, playing against 12 men.

How many fouls can Morelos give away without being booked? The one where he jumped into Berra off the ball, the referee said he’s just a bit silly sometimes.

That’s what he told one of our players. Now, if you jump into somebody, I don’t care if you’re silly or not, it’s a booking.

You can’t really blame Levein for seeking action against Morelos, and not because of his ill discipline, but because he is in such lethal form right now.

The Colombian netted his 17th goal of the season in Edinburgh and has now scored in seven consecutive league matches.

Sadly for Levein it’s just something he’ll have to live with.
