Rangers today paid tribute to legend Kai Johansen who lost his battle against cancer, aged 67.

Kai Johansen, from Denmark, played for Rangers between 1965 and 1970. He was signed from Morton and is most famous for scoring the winning goal against Celtic in the 1966 Scottish Cup Final.

A minute silence was held before today’s 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock, and it was observed brilliantly by both sets of fans in the end of season clash.

Johansen, as well as scoring the winning goal in the 1966 Scottish Cup Final, also played a big part in getting Rangers to the European Cup Winners Cup Final in 1967, which Rangers lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich.

The great Dane played 238 matches for Rangers, scoring nine goals. He was a good signing for Rangers from Morton at £20,000 and a good servant to the club.

Our condolences go out to his family at this sad time.
