Rangers supporters are eager to sign former Ibrox midfielder Steven Davis in January, with his contract at Southampton approaching expiry.

The Saints club captain hasn’t been fancied at all by manager Mark Hughes this season, getting just six minutes of English Premier League action in 2018/19.

Still starring for Northern Ireland on the international scene, he still has enough quality to shine in the heart of Steven Gerrard’s midfield and has the winning mentality to help the club get back in amongst major honours once again.

The 104 cap international won an incredible eight trophies in his first spell in Glasgow, also helping the team to the 2008 UEFA Cup Final.

Rangers are doing well in the middle of the park right now but Davis would bring a top level class currently missing and bring stability beyond loan signings like Ovie Ejaria returning to their parent clubs.

Fans want it to happen, with a massive 81% of respondents to a poll we published yesterday believing the club should make a move for him.
