Rangers are doing well this year, but Steven Gerrard has a big task on his hands in January. We’re not yet at the level needed to be challenging for the title, especially given Celtic’s form.

So, in January, we need to bring in a few players, and we recently asked Rangers fans whether Everton man Mason Holgate would be a good option.

He’s reportedly available for a loan in January, according to the Mirror, and despite his relative youth, he’s got bags of experience in the Premier League, and he’s, naturally, very talented.

The Englishman is, clearly, someone that a fair few fans would like to see at Ibrox, as in a recent poll, 70% of polled Rangers fans voted in favour of a move for Holgate.

Holgate is on the opposite end of the spectrum in contrast to someone like Gareth McAuley, at least in terms of age, but the defender has so much quality.

An excellent passer and tackler, and extremely confident on the ball, Holgate would be comfortable in our team, and he’d perhaps help remove some of the errors that have plagued us this term.

Whether we could get a deal done remains to be seen, but he’d be a popular target, it seems.
