Some Rangers fans would like to see the club make an audacious move to sign Scott McTominay on loan this January, after reports suggested he could be on the brink of an Old Trafford exit.
The Daily Record reported earlier this week that the Scotland international could be shipped out on loan by manager Jose Mourinho after struggling to make an impact in the first-team so far this season.
It could be a unique opportunity for Rangers to sign an English Premier League talent on the cheap for the critical season run-in next year. Transfermarkt rates him at £6.3m ordinarily, which is clearly beyond the Gers’ spending power.
The 21-year-old has made 29 appearances for the Red Devils but has made just two Premier League starts so far this season, the last of which was halted at half-time after being hauled off against Newcastle United.
A majority of Rangers fans reckon he could do a job for Steven Gerrard’s side though with 63% of respondents to a poll we published earlier this week wanting to the club to sign him on loan.
