Croatian international left-back Borna Barisic didn’t take long to impress the Rangers faithful this season, in fact, he managed to do that before manager Steven Gerrard had even decided to sign him given his performance against us for FK Osijek in the Europa League.

The 26-year-old has certainly impressed since he arrived at Ibrox, but his early promise has been held back significantly following a lengthy injury during the first half of the 2018/19 campaign and he’s been restricted to only nine appearances. His appearance as a second-half substitute in last weekend’s tie with Dundee was his first runout since the end of September.

That hasn’t stopped Turkish journalist Ilke Cancanoglu from claiming that he believes Besiktas are taking a serious look at the player, having been impressed with how he turned his hand to the Scottish game.

The biggest problem with this piece of speculation is that unless FIFA want to change their rules to suit Besiktas, the fact he has already played for two clubs this season means although they can sign him, they won’t be able to see him in action until next year, so I have to instantly question how ‘serious’ their interest might be.
