Sources in Turkey – via the Scotsman – are suggesting that Rangers remain in talks with Martin Skrtel over a potential move to Ibrox in the summer window.

The Slovakian international has played at the highest level for a considerable time during his career.

He’s played for Liverpool and Fenerbahce, of course, and is currently a free agent, which would make him that bit easier to attain for the Gers.

Indeed, they’d only have to sort out a package for the player and not have to deal with a club, though what his demands exactly are remains to be seen.

It appears that the Gers  – according to these reports at least – are still trying to work something out, then, though I am happy with what we’ve got without him.

The four centre-backs we’ve got at the club are good enough for us this year, so I’d only say sign Skrtel if it makes financial sense.

  • Signing Skrtel is a good move, remember it’s not always what happens on the pitch that matters, there is no experienced defenders at the club at the moment, we have Shaggy to work with the keepers, Gerrard/Davis in midfield and Defoe up front so bringing Skrtel in is perfect to balance the experience in training, look at the effect weir had on every partner he played along side, plus he’ll be very handy coming up against the bigger teams in Europe and the unwashed will have trouble getting through him, perfect addition to the squad.
