Rangers got their first win of the season last week against St Johnstone. The light blues drew the first game at Ibrox against Hearts 1-1 and badly needed to win this one to make sure they didn’t lose any more ground early on.

Goian and Wallace made their league debuts for the club. McCoist again went with Maurice Edu and Lee McCulloch in the centre of midfield. A combination which won’t be favourable amongst fans as they are not exactly the most creative players.

Steven Naismith opened the scoring with his second goal of the season in the 31st minute. The Scotland international headed in from about 12 yards after Lee Wallace had floated in a free-kick.

The second goal came in the second half, Nikica Jelavic opened his account for the season in the 50th minute. This time Steven Naismith turned provider and Jelavic held off Callum Davidson before slotting the ball past the St Johnstone keeper.

So four points from a possible six in the first two games. Not too bad I suppose.
