Report refutes earlier claim Rangers will move for 40-cap international

|

Rangers will not be making a move for Phil Jagielka this summer, according to The Scottish Sun.

Website Football Insider reported during the week that Steven Gerrard was keen on adding the veteran English Premier League star to his defensive line ahead of the new season.

However, The Scottish Sun say that is inaccurate and there are no plans for the Gers to pursue a deal for the 36-year-old.

The Gers are on the hunt for defenders in the upcoming transfer window as a priority with Joe Worrall heading back to Nottingham Forest and Gareth MacAuley’s contract expiring.

Jagielka is out of contract at the Everton come the end of the season and has yet to make a decision on what his future holds.

The 40-cap England international may have only played 7 matches this season, but he could be an interesting option to bring into the club this summer, adding experience and competition for Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson.

Should the Gers consider making a move for him?
