Rangers are unlikely to try and sign Blackpool defender Curtis Tilt this summer, according to The Sunday Post, despite reports that the club were lining him up as a potential solution at centre-back.

Outlets like The Scottish Sun reported last week that the Ibrox side were lining up a move for the £1m-rated stopper, who has less than a year left on his current contract at the Seasiders.

However, it appears that he is far down Steven Gerrard’s transfer wishlist, with The Sunday Post believing that Jake Cooper remains the prime candidate for a move to Glasgow despite three failed bids already for the Millwall defender.

Despite the arrivals of Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson this summer, the Gers are definitely in need of more central defenders ahead of what will be a long season.

David Bates and Bruno Alves have already left the club while Fabio Cardoso is also expected to leave this summer after being frozen out of Gerrard’s first-team plans.

With Ross McCrorie also moving into a midfield position permanently, there aren’t a massive amount of options if somebody picks up an injury or is suspended.

Curtis Tilt clearly isn’t the man that Gerrard wants, but it remains to be seen whether the club will return with a fourth bid for Jake Cooper and land the target they’ve been pursuing for weeks.
