Report: Rangers on stand-by as Championship strike target makes Gerrard wait

|

Rangers are going to have to wait if they are to sign rumoured target, Raayhan Tulloch, the highly rated 19-year-old West Brom forward according to a report in Football Insider.

The Ibrox club join both RB Leipzig and Marseille in being credited with an interest but despite knocking back a contract offer in November, the Baggies are said to be locked in negotiations to extend the youngsters stay in the Midlands.

In a similar move to the one that was unsuccessful in attempting to land Tyrese Campbell from Stoke City, Tulloch is out of contract in the summer and Rangers would be looking to take advantage – once again – of the cross border loophole that saw them sign Joe Aribo for a bargain £300k.

Rangers will be in the market for reinforcements in the forward department in the summer with Alfredo Morelos expected to leave and Jermain Defoe not getting any younger, Florian Kamberi has impressed so far on loan from Hibs and would be a welcome addition if he continues to produce the goods.

Do Rangers need to spend big on a striker in the summer?

Tulloch has made just four appearances for the senior side but has 9 goals and 4 assists from 14 Premier League 2 games, given his profile and experience, he would be getting signed for his potential and as an investment rather than as the finished article ready to go straight into the starting line-up.

Gerrard will have little room for error in his next transfer window with Celtic homing in on 10-in-a-row, unless he can inspire a comeback that would eclipse that of the miracle of Istanbul.
