Four first-team Rangers players look certain to be on the way out of Ibrox this summer, according to The Evening Times.

In a report on the challenges facing Steven Gerrard in the wake of Sunday’s damaging derby defeat, journalist Chris Jack reckons that Wes Foderingham, Lee Wallace, Gareth McAuley and Graham Dorrans will all exit.

All of them have struggled for game time this season for a variety of reasons and the combined wages of all four will also be a fair chunk of Steven Gerrard’s budget.

Foderingham plays his back-up role to goalkeeper Allan McGregor well but this summer could be the last one we have to receive some sort of fee for him with his current deal expiring in 2020.

Wallace’s contract meanwhile expires at the end of this season and there has been no sign from the club or the player that the relationship will continue. With Borna Barisic, Andy Halliday and Jon Flanagan all in the queue ahead of him at left-back, there’s not much point keeping him around.

McAuley is one of the 20 players signed by the club since Gerrard arrived last May but he has started just eight matches and failed to really impress anyone. With his deal also up, surely we can find better back-up in the centre-back positions?

Dorrans is perhaps a surprise inclusion on The Evening Times’ list considering the reason he has been out for most of this season is because of injury. He’s undergone major knee surgery which has kept him out of action and with his contract not expiring until next summer it would be a surprise to see an exit ahead of the 2019/20 campaign. However, has Gerrard simply moved on from expecting a contribution?
