Report – In-demand striker “keen” to sign for Rangers as interest hots up

|

According to Football Insider, Rangers are hoping to secure the signing of Stoke City forward, Tyrese Campbell over the next few days and has told friends he is “keen’ on a move.

Campbell has been the subject of increased speculation recently as clubs have been able to offer him a contract with his due to expire in the next six months.

Clubs from the Premier League, Championship and both sides of the Old Firm are said to be interested in  the son of former Everton and Arsenal striker, Kevin Campbell, who has gone through a recent hot streak of goals with 4 in his last 5 appearances.

Rangers could do with the extra firepower as the enforced absence of Alfredo Morelos has highlighted what life without him may look like if they cash-in on the Colombian international in the summer – despite interest, most recently, from Sevilla, the Ibrox hierarchy are adamant he is going nowhere this January – with several clubs said to be keeping an eye on the 28-goal forward.

Jermain Defoe has provided a goal in each of the two games that Morelos has missed through suspension so far and will be looking to continue that form at Tynecastle, against Hearts at the weekend as the Light Blues look to maintain the pressure on Celtic in the closest title race in nearly a decade.

If the Gers can persuade Campbell to sign for the Ibrox club he will cost in the region of £350k according to the article, with the Scottish club taking advantage of the cross border transfer loophole that saw them acquire Joe Aribo for £300k.

Is Tyrese Campbell the sort of striker Rangers should be looking to sign?

Yes

No

As with Aribo, it will be another significant coup if Rangers can tie Campbell up on a contract with so many clubs looking to secure the services of the talented youngster.
