Rangers at last got a win in their travels but it was a narrow 1-0 victory over Highland League side Forres Mechanics. A win is a win though and more importantly it puts Rangers into Monday’s third round draw which takes place at Hamilton Racecourse.

It was a trip into the unknown for injury ravished Rangers who were without a host of stars and had to rely on the youngsters more than ever. And it was the combination of two of those youngsters that got the only goal of the game after 14 mintutes.

Aird, who had a great game against Motherwell midweek made a run down the left and put a fine cross in which was converted by Kai Naismith. Who needs Steven when you have Kai? It was great to see the youngster on the scoresheet and score what turned out to be the winning goal.
