Steven Gerrard has tried, and succeeded in some cases, to sign some more experienced heads during his time at the club so far.

Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis are just a couple of the names that have come in with a long CV and it would be no surprise to see him try and bring similar players in again this summer.

However, despite recent talk about Leighton Baines being the man to come in and solve our issue at left-back, it appears as though that will not be the case now.

Indeed, the Liverpool Echo has sought to clarify such talk and has suggested that such a move will not go through this summer.

The former regular England international is now second choice at Everton thanks to Lucas Digne arriving and doing well there last season so it remains to be seen just who the Gers get after instead.

Certainly, though, we need a new option down that side as soon as possible.

  • Deffinately need someone down the left similar to tavernier going down the right to give the team more balance. Tavernier could also chip in with more goals(not talking about penalties) say morelos took the penalties tav would have what 3 goals? 2 from free kicks so that 1 goal this season from open play, not good enough for a player who gets Into so many good positions as he does. I know someone will leap to his defence but that attitude is what’s keeping us 2nd best, aim higher constantly, demand the best and we will be the best. Keep on praising non winning of trophies and we’ll never win any with the same players who failed to win trophies 3 season in a row.
Ryan Kents 6 goals are not enough either, needs to be around 16 for a guy playing off the striker.
